OIL CAN X SBOMB
ABOUT A THOUSAND MILES.
Oil Can honours the makers and the spirited who choose the road less travelled.
After a chance meeting with Titch Cormack, a former Royal Marine and ex-Special Forces operator turned custom bike builder, we commissioned a build of our own. Free reign was given to Titch and his team of SBomb Vintage Workshop, and the concept for the build evolved in his mind. A 1973 Yamaha XS650 was to become the foundation for a hardtail bobber.
We couldn’t have imagined was what would come out of this project, an amazing bike with an even better story. Crafted out of a road trip which Titch would take to trace the paths of his military forerunners during WW2, visiting the places his Grandfather had 75 years ago as a Commando of the Royal Marines.
The custom bike design was influenced by the Oil Can Iron Horse range and our signature burnt orange colour. But what would take centre stage for the design was the route Titch would take from his base in Poole through the Normandy Beaches, Ouistreham, the Gironde Estuary and on to Biarritz.
As the journey unfolded, it was captured on film and the short documentary 'About a Thousand Miles' was created.
